starship

The Starship project was one of my most fast-paced projects to date. I was given just three weeks to design my largest structure yet. The design centers around three large pipes that come together to form the body of the ship, each offering a unique way to reach the top. Once there, children can climb around the structure, developing coordination and risk-assessment skills through play.

I also had the opportunity to get creative with the control panel, which evolved from a retro video game concept into a more futuristic design. I wanted to create a visually engaging discovery moment without including elements that might encourage children to let go of the rails to interact with them.

I was very pleased with the final result, which was delivered to McAuliffe Elementary in Colorado.
